A sudden and massive wave struck the beaches of Ventura, CA, sending eight people to the hospital and flooding nearby streets and buildings.

A crowd of people was standing at the seawall when a giant wave emerged onto the street.

Meteorologists warn that Southern California may see waves of up to an impressive 15 to 20 feet.

The National Weather Service warns that high surf will continue on the West Coast until Saturday.

“Because of this wave, eight people were transported to local hospitals,” said the Ventura County Fire Department.
